2010 Student Photography Competition
The 2010 Student Photography Competition is complete!
*Note: The next photo contest will be held in Fall 2012*
The Stanford Optical Society partnered with other student OSA/SPIE chapters from around the world to sponsor the third online photography contest for students age 12-18. The contest was sponsored by the professional societies of the Optical Society and the SPIE. This year we received a record 280 submissions from many different countries around the world! The photographs were judged based on technical and artistic merit by a panel of faculty and students from several universities. The winners received hundreds of dollars worth of gift certificates for photography equipment. We would like to thank all of this year's participants, and encourage all students interested in photography to submit to our contest in future years. We received many high-quality entries this year, and that made the judging very, very difficult. Congratulations to the winners:

This year's theme is Illuminating Your World. Send your themed photos to stanford-photons@stanford.edu beginning January 1st, 2010. The deadline for entries is 11:59pm PST on March 1st, 2010.

Information for OSA/SPIE Student Chapters
2010 Contest Details
- Please include your name, age, school name/city/state/country, photo title, and a short description of the photo with each entry.
- Submit high resolution digital photos suitable for at least 8x10" prints
- Up to 2 entries are allowed per contestant
- Contest officially begins on January 1st, 2010 and ends 11:59pm PST March 1st, 2010
- You must be 12-18 years old on September 1st, 2009 to be eligible for this year's contest.
- By entering this contest, you agree to the use of your photo and name for publicity related to the contest.
- Winning photos and honorable mentions will be displayed at http://photons.stanford.edu

Prizes
- Thanks to our generous sponsors, we have >$1000 worth of photography equipment to award, as well as framed prints of the winners!
- Awards will be given for best photos regionally, and for age brackets (12-14 years old, 15-18 years old).
