Hello Polarizing Pals!
As we all know, rain is extremely dangerous. Ever since this unnatural phenomenon began to afflict our region, going outside has become quite the ordeal. Having to put on our hermetically sealed suits and check for leaks adds significant time to our morning routines, taking away from precious sleep and work hours. Naturally, this leads to people trying to cut corners, resulting in completely avoidable injuries.
The Stanford Witch--...*ahem*...Optical Society believes that the best way to address such ordeals is to create them in a small edible form that can be therapeutically devoured. I am...Read more
Hey there Grating Gang,
Winter is approaching, which can only mean one thing: The Stanford Optical Society is hosting another homemade happy hour! Specifically a happy hour that will be at 5PM in the Shriram tea room.
This time we've got 3 different homebrews coming your way from master brewsmiths Stephen and Colin: 2 beer varieties and 1 batch of spiced hard cider. In addition, based on feedback from last year, we've opted to go for one giant pot of hot chocolate, with homemade marshmallows, of course. There will also be some store-bought varieties for the less adventurous as well...Read more
Greetings, my Collimated Compatriots,
TLDR: Big Optical Society BBQ on October 7th at 5PM in the Allen Courtyard
It's that time of year again! The time when everyone begins to notice that the bike paths are more crowded at certain times of day. The time when you run into even more people that you've never met in your building. The time when shared tools break more often and staff leave even more passive-aggressive notes in the fab.
That's right, a new year has begun with fresh new faces making fresh new mistakes!
In celebration of this...Read more
Hello fellow Experts in Electromagnetics,
As I'm sure all of your are aware, this coming Friday is National Guacamole Day. We know that there are probably parties celebrating this event all over campus, but your very own Optical Society would like to join the fun this year by doing our own happy hour on this widely anticipated holiday.
So come join us this Friday, September 16th at 5PM in Spilker 232. We will have a variety of guacamoles created by our committee members as well as a number of drinks, EANABS, and other snacks for your consumption.
We will be...Read more
On Friday, August, 14th, your very own membership committee will be holding a happy hour at the Allen courtyard. Not only that, but I will be bringing a large CO2 tank that just happens to be rigged so that it can pump large quantities of high pressure gas into a sealed container, the end result of which is that any liquid in that container will get rather bubbly.
We plan on serving a variety of cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages that will all be carbonated on request at any desired pressure level (if you don't specify, I'll turn it all the way up)....Read more

The time has come to reunite with those who shared the experience of SUPR, and it comes on the anniversary of one of the most pivotal historic events in human history. Let's start from the beginning. It was a cloudy day in the city of Palo Alto that fateful July. Frankly, it was a rather dull and ordinary day by any standard, and business went on as usual. But there was an inexplicable sense of expectation in the air, felt by all, but ignored as a figment of their imagination. It was if the entire universe was a compressed spring, ready...Read more
