Science Outreach Activities

Stanford Optical Society will be offering three classes on holography to high-school students at Spring Splash. Students will have an opportunity to make their own hologram, measure thickness of their hair through laser diffraction pattern and learn the underlying principles of light interference.
Grant Writing Workshop for Teachers

The Stanford Optical society and Ann Shioji are once again hosting a grant writing workshop for teachers who may be new to grant writing. How to keep an eye out for interesting grants, an overview of the grant process, the structure of a typical grant, how to find relevant information about your school, and how to make your grant extra appealing to funding committees will be discussed.

Maker Faire, famous as the Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth, is a family-friendly festival of invention, creativity and resourcefulness, and a celebration of the Maker movement. Stanford Optical Society is throwing a Laser Craze party. Play some tunes on the Laser Harp, challenge yourself to pass through the Laser Maze, or challenge others for a game of Laser Pong.
